Brook Serrano is an English teacher and career counselor who has spent her career helping language learners, international students and professionals thrive in English — in the classroom, through cultural transitions, and into the jobs they've worked hard for.

She earned her Cambridge CELTA at International House Lisbon in 2003 and taught English in Viseu and Lisbon, from beginners to Advanced Business English. She then completed a dual M.S./Ed.S. in career counseling at Florida State University, where she also taught college courses in career development.

At the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), Brook advised international students on immigration compliance, work authorization, cultural transitions and the job search. She went on to serve as Director of International Student Services, supporting thousands of students from more than 100 countries. She partnered with deans and department chairs to open STEM OPT eligibility to hundreds of international students, trained faculty and career advisers on supporting non-native English speakers, and coached many neurodivergent students and students with disabilities.

Brook has shared her expertise at multiple conferences, including the National Career Development Association Global Conference, NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the Georgia Association of International Educators, and delivered an IELTS USA workshop on English proficiency in the workplace. She also coordinated NCDA's International Ambassador Program, connecting international and US professionals at its global conference.

Having made the move between countries and languages herself — more than once — Brook now lives in central Portugal with her family. She coaches clients online and is bringing a small family farm back to life. Her sessions are practical, patient and built around where each client is headed.
